you are AMAZING

I've missed you! But there are a few things you should consider before getting dressed this morning. Always wear something that makes you feel amazing, preferably one of the following:
  • an lbd with a few key accessories - tights, a scarf or necklace, and a chunky cardigan, cropped jacket or shrunken blazer
  • boyfriend jeans (faded, slouchy and perfectly worn in) with a tissue-thin t shirt
  • anything with fur or fringe, never both, and keep it subtle
  • a statement belt, even better if its a relative's hand-me-down, worn at the natural waist over your favorite tunic, dress or blouse
  • LEATHER anything - boots, jackets, vests, skirts or skinny pants if your sassy enough to pull if off
So please, make sure you feel as amazing as you undoubtedly look when you walk out that door!!! And always remember to stay stylish

These are my TOP 5 FAVORITE LOOKS:
  1. mini dresses with booties, ankle boots or spectators (tights optional)
  2. long cardigans over short dresses
  3. cropped leather jackets over feminine dresses
  4. dark skinny denim tucked into boots, a crisp white blouse and a scarf
  5. lbd with a bold statement necklace
Now get dressed! In case you didn't notice, there is a reoccurring theme within my top 5. Stay tuned and always stay stylish

it's only July - but fall fashion has begun...

It's just starting to heat up, but the time has come to begin putting together your fall wardrobes!!
Here are some key trends to keep in mind when shopping for back-to-whatever it is you're going back to:
  • Textured knits - 3/4 length cardigans look fabulous over dresses, with skinny jeans, etc.
  • Feminine blouses - whether they be sheer, high-neck, with a tie or without, keep it classy
    • Pair them with slouchy trousers, dark skinny denim or tuck them into high-waisted skirts with pockets
  • Leather jackets - update the classic wardrobe staple with cropped styles or motorcycle inspired in a rich hue like cognac
  • Boots - if you love them as much as I do (and you should), get adventurous and try new styles and colors
    • Flats, high-heeled, slouchy, booties, spectator, with buckles, you get the idea...
This is only the beginning and should only serve as a starting point. There will be much more to come as the seasons change, so stay tuned and always stay stylish!

where have you been?

I know, I am more than sloughing in the blog updating arena... I apologize.
Now lets get serious, its JUNE and that means summer is quickly approaching! How ever will we accessorize our crisp white blouses, lightweight jeans or cuffed shorts and metallic gladiator sandals?
Here's what you absolutely need for summertime survival:
  • Sunglasses - don't go wearing your stunner glasses at night, but rock them like they're going out of style when the sun is shining (or, if you reside in the pacific northwest, when the forecast calls for partial sun breaks)
    • Be sure to find a pair that fits your face. You can't go wrong with oversize styles or aviators
    • If you splurge on a designer pair, make sure its a flattering style that you can wear beyond one season
  • A bold watch with a white leather strap - looks fresh for summer, and goes fabulously with a tan
    • My most recent splurge was on a Michelle watch with 94 diamonds and a white alligator strap - I love it more than anything. I'm not advocating spending your first paycheck, but I'm not gonna lie it felt damn good and still does... What time is it?
  • A lightweight scarf - just in case it gets chilly. Keep it playful and colorful, the more fringe the better
  • A roomy tote to stash your water bottle, reading materials (pick your pleasure), sunscreen and other warm weather essentials
    • Find a style that suits you and get creative with colors, fabrics and prints
  • Nail polish - don't leave your nails bare when rocking sandals, its just wrong. Try one of this seasons trendy colors on your toes, and fingers if you dare
    • I'm loving bright pinks, purples, yellows and electric blues
Have fun out there, stay hydrated and always wear protection (SPF is a must, sun damage is never in fashion)!
Stay tuned and always stay stylish

May, Already?

May has arrived - and apparently May is notorious for being gray in Southern California... that just seems wrong. If I wanted to enjoy the gloom I would've stayed in the Pacific Northwest. I think I'll wait it out - I am confident the sun WILL shine, tomorrow!
So, the real question is how does one stay fashionably warm with rising temperatures?
  • cardigans - lightweight cotton knits in bright colors pull together any outfit
  • cropped jackets - look chic with skinny jeans and full, feminine blouses
  • scarves - nothing heavy or dark, keep it light and airy to breeze into summer
And most definitely get ready to bare those shoulders as the temperatures rise...
  • strapless dresses - mini to midi length in bright colors and bold prints
  • sleeveless and slender strapped blouses - keep it simple and add a statement piece of jewelry.
    • Think colorful beads, an armful of bangles or hoops (pick one, and NEVER over-accessorize, it tends to look cheap and tacky)
Until next time, stay tuned and always stay stylish

More Spring Time Obsessions

When you're surrounded by clothes, shoes and accessories all day, magic happens. I am always inspired by what I see on the job - here's another taste of what I'm into today.
Right now I absolutely love:
  • basics with bold patterned jackets - make a statement
  • maxis (see below) and midis for day - leave a little something to the imagination, save the minis for late night partying in Hollywood
  • pink lip gloss - so fresh and natural, plus it looks great on any skin tone
  • bright bangles, and lots of them - the more the better
Things that can work, in moderation:
  • boho and tribal prints - a little goes a long way, too much looks sloppy and calculated
  • floral - if you're going to go there, make sure the size of the print complements your frame
Things that both you and I can do without:
  • unflattering shapes - work with your body type and wear what flatters your figure... If you're not sure what works for you, come visit me in Savvy! I promise you'll leave looking and feeling amazing
Have fun with your wardrobe and experiment, experience the joys that fashion brings...
Stay tuned and always stay stylish

It's Official!

Good news... I'm employed!
Nordstrom's Savvy is my new home. Selling high-priced contemporary fashion to South Bay residents sounds right up my alley. I can't wait to share all of my newfound knowledge with you.
There will be much more to come, so get ready.
Stay tuned and as always, stay stylish

Taste of Spring

Spring is in the air!
The temperatures are rising, flowers are blooming, and...my most favorite of all indicators of spring, FASHION. While couture designers are debuting their fall and winter collections, department stores are making way for dresses, skirts, sandals and swimsuits. Where to begin?
As of today, my spring essentials include:
  • Maxi dresses - I absolutely LOVE these!! Not only are they flattering on most figures, some even come short enough for those of us with petite frames. p.s. They look fab with flat sandals
  • Slouchy white trousers - pair perfectly with a crisp, vertically striped oxford shirt for a carefree, causal look
  • Gladiator sandals - If your not leggy, try a pair with fewer and thinner straps, preferably in a metallic or neutral shade
  • Scarfs - I'm a little biased because this is my favorite go-to accessory of all time (especially when its silk and Pucci), but when the colors are bright and the print bold, this makes any outfit pop
There will undoubtedly be more to come, and there's a good chance I will change my mind at the drop of a large, floppy straw sun hat...
That being said, stay tuned and always stay stylish
